Our Story
How It All Began
Back in 1966, the villages around Alamchand in Kaushambi had almost no access to proper schooling. Children who wanted to study had no place nearby to go. It was this reality that deeply troubled Late Devendra Nath Srivastava, an accomplished government lawyer who had never lost his connection to his roots and his village.
Rather than waiting for someone else to fix the problem, he opened a school right inside his own home. For four years he ran it from there no grand building, no big budget just one man's belief that every child deserved to learn. Children from distant villages would walk to his home just to attend classes. That says everything about what he built.
After four years of running the school from his residence, Devendra Nath gathered land and moved the institution to a proper campus. From there it grew steadily. It received High School recognition in 1974 and Intermediate recognition in 1979. His influence even extended beyond education the road in front of the school that connects so many villages today was built through his efforts and persistent advocacy.

The Founder
A Lawyer Who Built a School From His Home
Late Devendra Nath Srivastava was a respected government lawyer — but what defined him more than his profession was his unbreakable bond with his village and its people. He could have lived a comfortable life away from the struggles of rural Kaushambi. Instead, he chose to come back and do something about it.
He saw children around him growing up without access to even basic schooling and decided that he would be the one to change that. Starting with just his own home as the classroom, he built what would become one of the most important educational institutions in the region.
Every year, the school holds Smriti Diwas in his memory — a celebration that has been attended by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Chief Justice of India. That is the measure of the legacy he left behind.

Principal's Message
A Message From Our Principal
Maheshwari Prasad Intermediate College sits at the heart of rural Kaushambi — a place where access to quality education has historically been a challenge. That is exactly why what we do here matters so much.
I myself studied at this very school. It was the vision and dedication of our founder, Late Devendra Nath Srivastava Ji, that inspired me to take up the responsibility of carrying his dream forward. The trust he placed in education as the greatest equaliser — that belief drives everything we do here.
Education is not just about passing examinations. Without it, nothing is truly possible in this world. That is why we make it our mission to ensure that no student — regardless of their background or financial condition — is left behind. Every child who walks through our gates deserves a real chance at a better future.
Through continuous effort over the years, our student strength has grown from a handful of children in a home classroom to over 2,700 students today. That number is not just a statistic — it represents 2,700 families who believe in the power of education to change lives.
It is only through quality education that our region can truly develop. And that is a goal we will never stop working towards.
Jitendra Nath Srivastava, Principal, MPIC Alamchand
